HISTORICAL

Jan. 1989

  •      George Bush succeeds Ronald REagan as the 41st President of the U.S. I grew up in a democratic household, where my father and grandfather criticized both Bush administrations relentlessly.

May 1998

  •     Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols used a truck bomb to destroy the Alfrend P. Murrah Federal Building, a government office complex in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I remember that occuring.

2001

  •      September 11th attacks. Led to Invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, the death of Saddam Hussein, racism     against the middle-east, and the whole "Mission Accomplished" thing. Being a Democratic house, i heard a     fair share of arguing between my family about at least one of these.

May 2003

  •  President Bush safely lands on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln returning from operations in Iraq. Bush makes a primetime address, surrounded by hundreds of sailors, in which he declares major combat operations in Iraq over while standing in front of a banner reading "Mission Accomplished". More Political stuff in my house. I didn't really care though, because Yu Yu Hakusho was on, and I still remember that was the episode where you found out that the masked fighter was really Genkai! What?!

May 2006

  • Immigrant workers and their supporters across the U.S. stay home from work or school and abstain from commerce during the 2006 Immigration Policy Boycott in the U.S., also called the "Great American Boycott" or "Day Without Immigrants", a protest against the enforcement of immigration law. Because i went to private school, we were on lockdown the entire day, so no one could try ditching. I was asked several times by classmates why I wasn't out there, (I'm of Mexican descent) and my response was, "I don't care, I'm an American" That was a fun day at school as the latino students and the rest were split down the middle during a lockdown.

Jan. 2009

  • Barack Obama is inaugurated. I voted for him so I feel alright. Political discussions in my house go away for a while.

Joe!
Top marks for humor and your title certainly raised my expectations! I feel however you fell flat on really making this page unique, it lacked dimension that videos or links or color schemes could have added.

With some of your entries, began to address the “why” that the assignment asked of you however, you were inconsistent.
