Prompt:
Wells and John have very different views of the future. Why do you think John is able to so readily adapt to the future and why do you think Wells struggles? Explain your answer and use specific examples to support your ideas.

Well the good sir, Mr. Ripper blatantly answers this question. The human race as a whole has decayed for the most part, trying desperately to take control of the world around them and advance technology, rather than work on advancing themselves as a species first. Because of this, it has become the opposite of commonplace to find a gentleman's gentleman, and instead of the world at peace that Wells had envisioned, war and famine just continue to escalate, much to the unconditional, Father Christmas like joy of our good fellow, Mr. Ripper. Sadly, all he needed to do to prove thispoint, was turn on the television. Maybe if we had the WYLD STALLYNS it would have happened differently. But he wasn't all right. There have been advances towards the world that Wells wanted. Women's rights movement for example. Besides, all that stuff that the Ripper mentioned makes for most excellent television programming.

In the film Time After Time, John (Jack the Ripper) has travel forward to 1979 finds himself at home in San Francisco. He discovers society has become ever more violent than the year he left, 1893. Had he arrived only a decade earlier, John would have had to compete with the Zodiac Killer, a serial killer targeting northern California. As John puts it, “The future is made for people like me!”
H.G. Wells has a very difficult time transitioning into this modern violent society because he is a utopian optimist. Wells imagines a future less violent than the one he left behind. He becomes increasingly perturbed and disillusioned upon learning about the world wars that have happened between now and then. Even though Wells is shaken he finds some meaning behind all of it, “Every age is the same, it’s only love that makes them bearable.”

In the Introduction of the movie Time After Time, during playing Chess, Wells had argument for the future utopia with his friend, John who killed a woman of the streets. Wells anticipated ideal Social Utopia such
as no disease, no war, and no crime, but John is against Wells’s idea and argues that the future will be more violent than his world. After all, John took the Wells’s time machine in secret and traveled time forward to run away England police and look for his violent future utopia. Also, Wells follow him to take the responsibility of making john to escape. In 1979, both John and Wells see more violent world such as World War and violent movie in TV. After seeing more violent future world, John said “I was crazy person in the past, but I’m just armature in the future.” He loved the future, but Wells is disappointed with the future because there are a lot of wars and crimes. Therefore, John continually tries to kill people. Wells, however, tries to make john to stop John’s murder because of his responsibility and Amy’s death.
In the Internet, I researched about H.G.Wells, and it is described that he wants to show his social utopia like Socialism and Women’s Liberation through his works. I think the Movie director of Time after Time makes Wells in the film as a struggle person against contemporary violent society.

I believe the character of John or Jack the Ripper was better adapted to 1979 San Francisco life because of the apparant violence and chaos that seems so commonplace. Wells is used to a gentler time with gentler men. He was also prepared for a utpoian society were he would be allowed to practice his science freely. In the begining of the film he mentions how he believes in no more than 3 generations the world will evolve enough to end global famin and ultimately embrace world peace. However when he travels ahead over 100 years he finds that the complete opposite has happened. The world is wrapped up in turmoil after already completeing two world wars. Durg use and prostitution is common as is everyday violence. John finds this world almost made for him, he can go about his dastardly deeds unpunished. Wells on the other hand struggles to find the humanity left in the World. When John shows him the amount of violence that pervades everday life through the television it becomes entriley clear who this future best supports.

Wells are not able to adapt to the 1979 San Francisco based on his speculation of future as utopia. Based on his book The Time Machine, he think that the future is a prefect society where all the people do not have the worries in a modern society: development of technology, competition in life, survives physically, social responsibility, wisdom, education, ethics and most importantly sexual relationship and gender roles. When he first arrived in the cultural diverse city, San Francisco, he was surprised to see the Middle East people. He was shocked with all the technologies like television, tooth brushes, and cars. He obviously had trouble communicating in the language and culture to the people that was 100 years in future. I think that because John did not have the expectation of future like Wells did, so he can easily accepted the future. He responded to the future quickly by wearing the modern clothes, and acted like the way other people did in San Francisco while Wells was stilling wearing his suit from his period, and would accepted what he have seen in the future.

H.G Well is using a time-travler character and make him to go different future, which it proves the multiverse universe existence or another theory of revolution. The time-traveler in his book met himself with different gender and saw different life cycle, which it simply was amazing term of describing relationship. Well writes the experiences of seeing new life form to be alive as almost as real, which it is very imaginated
John, Time After Time, shows same theories based Well but he used more advanced technology to describe the time space. He used our humanity and restructured all condemned and fearful thing to become proven reality in his visualized space such as violent of policeman, and fighting between revolutionists.
Their structure of future utopia are simply imagainated with disaster and destruction, which it almost proves the theory of multiverse universe that there is one dimensions already has this kind of world.
